Design of Novel Algorithm and Architecture for Gaussian Based Color Image Enhancement System for Real Time Applications

This paper presents the development of a new algorithm for Gaussian based color image enhancement system. The algorithm has been designed into architecture suitable for FPGA/ASIC implementation. The color image enhancement is achieved by first convolving an original image with a Gaussian kernel since Gaussian distribution is a point spread function which smoothen the image. Further, logarithm-domain processing and gain/offset corrections are employed in order to enhance and translate pixels into the display range of 0 to 255. The proposed algorithm not only provides better dynamic range compression and color rendition effect but also achieves color constancy in an image. The design exploits high degrees of pipelining and parallel processing to achieve real time performance. The design has been realized by RTL compliant Verilog coding and fits into a single FPGA with a gate count utilization of 321,804. The proposed method is implemented using Xilinx Virtex-II Pro XC2VP40-7FF1148 FPGA device and is capable of processing high resolution color motion pictures of sizes of up to 1600x1200 pixels at the real time video rate of 116 frames per second. This shows that the proposed design would work for not only still images but also for high resolution video sequences.Comment: 15 pages, 15 figure

Signature inversion in axially deformed 160,162^{160,162}Tm

    Get PDF
The microscopic analysis of experimental data in 160,162^{160,162}Tm is presented within the two-quasiparticle-phonon model. The model includes the interaction between odd quasiparticles and their coupling with core vibrations. The coupling explains naturally the attenuation of the Coriolis interaction in rotating odd-odd nuclei. It is shown that the competition between the Coriolis and neutron-proton interactions is responsible for the signature inversion phenomenon.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, corrected some typo

Breeding of Indian major carps and common carp in semi-arid zone of Haryana under controlled environment

    Get PDF
Vast barren lands are lying vacant in the semi-arid zone of India, which can effectively be utilised for fish farming. Experiments conducted in semi-arid conditions at Damdama indicated that it is possible to breed Indian major carps and common carp under controlled conditions of modern carps hatchery CIFE D-80 without depending on rain

Dynamic Analysis of Offshore Spar Platforms

    Get PDF
Offshore spar platform is a compliant offshore floating structure used for deep water applications for drilling, production, processing, storage and offloading of ocean deposits. The offshore spar platform is modelled as a rigid body with six degrees-of-freedom (DOFs), connected to the sea bed by multicomponent catenary cables which consist of a mooring line, a clump weight, and an anchor line attached to the fairlcads. The response-dependent stiffness matrix consists of three parts: (i) the restoring hydrostatic force, and the stiffness due to cables. (ii) nonlinear horizontal springs, and (iii) nonlinear vertical springs. A unidirectional regular wave model is used for computing the incident wave kinematics by Airy's wave theory and  hydrodynamic force by Morison's equation. The response analysis is performed in timc domain using the iterative incremental Newmark's method. Numerical studies have been conducted for sea state conditions with and without coupling of DOFs

Generic dialogue modeling for multi-application dialogue systems

    Get PDF
We present a novel approach to developing interfaces for multi-application dialogue systems. The targeted interfaces allow transparent switching between a large number of applications within one system. The approach, based on the Rapid Dialogue Prototyping Methodology (RDPM) and the Vector Space model techniques from Information Retrieval, is composed of three main steps: (1) producing finalized dia logue models for applications using the RDPM, (2) designing an application interaction hierarchy, and (3) navigating between the applications based on the user's application of interest

Enhanced four-wave mixing via elimination of inhomogeneous broadening by coherent driving of quantum transition with control fields

    Get PDF
We show that atoms from wide velocity interval can be concurrently involved in Doppler-free two-photon resonant far from frequency degenerate four-wave mixing with the aid of auxiliary electromagnetic field. This gives rise to substantial enhancement of the output radiation generated in optically thick medium. Numerical illustrations addressed to typical experimental conditions are given.Comment: LaTeX2e, hyperref, 7 pages, 5 figures, to appear in PRA 1 august 200

Audio-based event detection for sports video

    Get PDF
In this paper, we present an audio-based event detection approach shown to be effective when applied to the Sports broadcast data. The main benefit of this approach is the ability to recognise patterns that indicate high levels of crowd response which can be correlated to key events. By applying Hidden Markov Model-based classifiers, where the predefined content classes are parameterised using Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients, we were able to eliminate the need for defining a heuristic set of rules to determine event detection, thus avoiding a two-class approach shown not to be suitable for this problem. Experimentation indicated that this is an effective method for classifying crowd response in Soccer matches, thus providing a basis for automatic indexing and summarisation

Puerperal Tetanus in Water Buffalo - A Case Report

    Get PDF
Abstract: Reports of tetanus in buffaloes are scanty in comparison to cattle, horse, sheep and goat. A six years old Murrah buffalo, five days post-partum, was presented for treatment with a history of manual removal of retained placenta. Prolapse of third eyelid, complete locking of jaw, development of curve in spine, erection of ear and typical "pump-handle" position of tail were visible signs. Diagnosis was established on the basis of case history and clinical signs. Treatment was carried out with irrigation of genital tract with 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide and administration of hypertonic saline solution (7.5%), dextrose normal saline (5%), penicillin G procaine in high dose, ketoprofen and chlorpromazine. The animal fell like a stiff, wooden structure on day 11 of the onset of the disease and succumbed to its illness
